SGT Cannon, of the Wadesboro Police Dept., had been selected by the Democrat Party of Anson County to fill the position with the death of Landric Reid unexpectedly right at election time. Cannon and most of the county’s citizens expected him to be the next Sheriff. Howell’s questionable appointment stunned the county and forced many to accept the corruption at work within Anson County.
